Un Elefante di 300.000 anni fa...a Genova!

Hi everybody!
Come promesso ecco ciò che mi ha colpito di più del Museo Civico di Storia Naturale a Genova! Che ne dite? :D

As i say here the best thing of the Museum of Natural History of Genova! What do you think? :D

Come vedrete dalle foto si tratta di un esemplare davvero enorme, risalente a circa 300.000- 250.000 anni fa!
Ma non solo, il magnifico stato di conservazione delle ossa è dovuto a particolari sostanze nelle quali il corpo dell'animale si trovò a decomporsi. Fu rinvenuto in provincia di Viterbo nel 1941, durante gli scavi per lo sfruttamento di un giacimento di farina fossile. 
Ma ora ecco le foto, vi immaginate la grandezza e la forza di questo animale in vita? :D
Come vedete con oggi riprendiamo l'appuntamento del Venerdì, vi dò un indizio per il prossimo post.... rimaniamo nel nord d'Italia... ma saliamo anche di altitudine! :D

As you will see from the photos it is a really great example, from about 300,000 to 250,000 years ago!
But not only the beautiful state of preservation of the bones is due to specific substances in which the body of the animal was found to decompose. Was found near Viterbo in 1941, during excavations for the exploitation of a deposit of diatomaceous earth.
But now here are the pictures, can you imagine the size and strength of this animal alive?

    Looks like a very interesting place. I must come back to see more info at your link.

    I used to live in western Canada (near Calgary). In Drumheller there is an amazing museum with many dinosaur skeletons - check out the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology for photos.

    "Fu rinvenuto a Genova nel 1941" FALSO.
    E' stato scoperto a Viterbo nel 1941. Sta scritto anche nell'altra foto che hai allegato.
