Questa settimana The Nature Jotter vi porta in un posto speciale della nostra Puglia: Sole, Mare e un centro storico favoloso...si tratta di... Monopoli! Pronti per il tour?

This week, The Nature Jotter takes you to a special place in our Puglia: Sun, Sea and a stunning historical center ... i'm talking about... Monopoly!Ready for the tour?

Attraverseremo questa splendida città in tre puntate, nella prima vi porterò alla scoperta del centro storico fino al castello, nella seconda attraverseremo il porto fino alla "villa", e nella terza.... surprise! :D

Monopoli è un comune italiano di 49.622 abitanti della provincia di Bari, in Puglia. Si trova 43 km a sud-est del capoluogo ed è il centro non capoluogo più popoloso della Puglia a sud di Bari. Proprio per questo rappresenta una delle mete preferite dei baresi per trascorrere fresche sere d'estate grazie ai numerosi locali e al popolo cordiale e socievole. Ero abituata infatti a vedere Monopoli by night ma devo dire che vederla con la luce, si assiste ad un mix perfetto tra i colori del mare e le costruzioni medioevali, il tutto reso ancora più seggustivo dalle mura che circondano il centro storico! Facendo qualche ricerca inoltre, ho scoperto che è stata fonte d'ispirazione per importanti autori come Flaubert... E voi siete mai stati a Monopoli? Ma ora ecco le foto, alla prossima dears! :)

We will cross this beautiful city in three steps, the first will bring you to discover the city center to the castle, in the second cross the harbor to the "house", and in the third .... surprise! : D

Monopoly is an Italian town of 49,622 habitants of the province of Bari, in Puglia. It is located 43 km south-east of the capital and is the most populous non-capital of Puglia in the south of Bari Because this is a favorite of Bari to spend cool summer evenings with numerous local and friendly people and sociable. In fact I used to see Monopoly by night but I must say that seeing the light, we see a perfect mix between the colors of the sea and the medieval buildings, all made even more seggustivo from the walls surrounding the old town! Also doing some research, I discovered that it was important source of inspiration for writers like Flaubert ... And you've never been to Monopoly? But now here are the pictures, the next dears! :)

Hi everybody!

Un post piccolo e veloce per rendervi partecipi di un particolare incontro ravvicinato che ho avuto ieri sera: Lo Scarabeo Rinoceronte!

A quick little post to share a particular encounter I had last night: The Rhinoceros Beetle!

Mentre ero alla villa di un amico per festeggiare il suo compleanno (incredibile si tratta della stessa villa di cui vi parlavo QUI), eravamo tutti intenti a ridere e scherzare all'aria aperta quando qualcuno esclama "Ehy Jotter guarda qui chi c'è per te" (proprio come vi dicevo qui! ahahah) ed ecco che subito sono accorsa per vedere di cosa si trattava, e devo dire che le mie aspettative sono state del tutto superate: Uno Scarabeo Rinoceronte! Si tratta di Oryctes nasicornis, un esponente della grande famiglia degli Scarabaeidae. Appartiene alla tribù dei Dynastini, che comprende alcuni degli Insetti più grandi del pianeta, come il Dynastes hercules del centro e sud America che raggiunge i 140 mm di lunghezza. In questa specie è presente uno spiccato dimorfismo sessuale. L’esemplare che ho fotografato io doveva essere foto è un maschio, riconoscibile per il lungo corno cefalico che ha valso a questa specie il proprio nome comune. i suoi colori come potete vedere si orientano sul bruno-castano lucido, con zampe e parti inferiori ricoperte da una folta pubescenza rossastra. E' davvero un animale straordinario, immaginate che il suo sviluppo larvale dura 3 anni!

Ho letto che sembra essere attratto dalle luci quindi chissà che un giorno non ne vediate uno anche voi! :)

Ps: le foto sono state scattate dal cellulare, quindi non sono granchè! Nell'ultima sono riuscita ad avvicinare un piatto solo per far rendere le dimensioni della foto, poi ovviamente l'ho liberato subito!

While I was at a friend's house to celebrate his birthday (it's the same house I mentioned it here unbeliveble!), we were all busy laughing and joking in the open air when someone says "Hey, come here Jotter there's something for you "(just as I told you here! hahaha) and here are immediately rushed to see what it was, and I must say that my expectations were completely overcome: a Rhinoceros Beetle!

This is Oryctes nasicornis, an exponent of the great family of Scarabaeidae. Dynastini belongs to the tribe, which includes some of the largest insects on the planet, as Dynastes hercules in Central and South America, which reaches 140 mm in length. In this species there is a marked sexual dimorphism. The copy which I had to be photographed I picture is a male, recognizable by the long cephalic horn, which has earned this species its common name. Its colors are oriented as you can see the shiny brown-brown, with legs and lower parts covered with a thick reddish pubescence. It 's really an extraordinary animal, imagine that its larval development lasts 3 years! I've read that seems to be attracted by the lights so who knows that one day you see not one, too! :) See you soon dear!

Ps: the photos were taken by phone, so I'm not much! The last I managed to bring a dish just to make it the size of the photo, then obviously I've been liberated!

Hi everybody!

Scusatemi la piccola assenza! Rieccomi qui, pronti per un nuovo mini tour? :)

Sorry for my little absence! Here i am ready for a new short tour, are you ready? :)

Questa settimana vi porterò a scoprire un altro magico giardino nascosto in una terra della quale vi avevo già parlato qui:Malta!

Ormai tutti conoscete la mia passione per i giardini, adoro fotografarli e scoprire la natura nascosta in essi! Qui infatti trovate uno dei post più popolari riguardo "Giardino Giusti" a Verona e qui qualche scatto di "Parc Guell" a Barcellona, e qui gli scatti dell'Orto Botanico di Bari. Questo giardino di oggi invece è Sant Anton Garden a Malta, una meta immancabile durante un soggiorno maltese! Raggiungerlo è facilissimo, poichè rientra in una delle fermate del bus scoperto dedicato ai turisti. Una volta giunti in prossimità dell'entrata sembrerà quasi di essere trasportati in un mondo delle favole (c'è un grande orologio che ricorda tanto alice nelle meraviglie!), ma andando più avanti si assiste ad una vera e propria opera d'arte. Varietà di alberi e piante, dalle più antiche alle più insolite tutte descritte dettagliatamente. Per il tour di oggi vi propongo principalmente immagini delle piante appunto, nella prossima puntata invece mi soffermerò sugli animaletti che girano per il giardino....anche un pavone in libertà!

This week we bring you to discover another magical hidden garden in a land which I had already talked about here: Malta! As well you now, i've a great passion for gardens, I love to photograph them and discover the hidden nature in them! Here you will find it one of the most popular posts about "Giardino Giusti" in Verona, here some pictures of "Parc Guell" in Barcelona, and here the pictures of the Botanical Garden of Bari. The garden of today is The Sant Anton Garden in Malta, you can't lose this destination during a Malta's holiday! Reaching it is very easy, as part of one of the stops of the bus tour dedicated to tourists. Once near the entrance will look like being transported into a world of fairy tales (there is a large clock that recalls both Alice in Wonderland!), but going ahead we see a true work of art. Variety of trees and plants, from the oldest to the most unusual all described in detail. For the tour today I propose mainly plant images precisely, in the next episode but I will focus on animals that roam the garden .... even a peacock on the loose! And what about you? Have you evere seen that garden?
